I was recently with a friend, having a girls day with her and my little, when the topic of Homosexuality was brought up. This is nothing new as we are constantly discussing a wide range of topics..

I am all for same sex relations. I believe everyone should be able to choose who they love freely, regardless of gender or race BUT..one thing I've always wondered is this:

Lesbian couples. It isn't very often you see two feminine women in a relationship with one another. Its always the very feminine and the women who dress like the male counterpart in a relationship.

Why do this? Isn't the purpose of lesbianism to remove yourself as far from the male sex as humanly possible and commit yourself to being with another woman? I may be asking all the wrong questions, or possibly even offending some viewers but I am sincerely curious about this topic.

Why is it that lesbian couples appear to want a clear definition of who is who in their relationships? What makes some women stick with the feminine side of things and others to lean more towards a male persona?

Is this a question of identity? A simple matter of following the pattern of generations past? Some underlying element that I'm simply missing, being that I am heterosexual?

Will I never know the answer?!

My First Cake *UPDATE*

I recently mentioned creating a cake for my Nieces 19th Birthday. SUCCESS!

Due to the theme of the aforementioned cake, I won't be uploading any pictures but will say my niece has an obsession with all things PLAYBOY and wanted me to center the cake around the Logo.

Using HERSHEYS chocolate cake recipe, I started with 3 individual layers. After baking them I added a crumb coat, then added the final layer, a black icing.

I can give my Mama some credit with this one because on the day I was to be making my cake my little (10 months) needed to be rushed to the night Pediatrician with a 103.5 temperature. Knowing I was crunched for time my mama threw together the cake batter and icing for me so it would be ready for transport when I arrived back home.

Thank Goodness for my Mama! I was out of time and way beyond stressed by the time I got my little seen and back home again. Without her forethought, I would have gone to my nieces 19th empty handed.

SO! After applying both layers of frosting to my cake I made up my first ever batch of Marshmallow fondant. Easy peasy!! It was a sticky mess, that much can certainly be said with 100% accuracy but all in all it was very easy to make and work with! I dyed the fondant a very nice red color and set to work rolling and shaping my pieces.

After putting this cake together I used a star cake tip and added a border of black frosting stars and called the cake finished!

I'll admit I was out of patience by the time my first cake adventure was through but can also say I was impressed with my final outcome and determined to continue on my journey to becoming a cake decorator.

Needless to say I have several more cake idea's floating around in my head for my littles 1st Birthday, Mothers Day and a few other upcoming birthdays for several family members.

Hooray!

Oh my Fondant!

I've never been a master in the kitchen. I can follow directions on the back of a box as well as the next person but I've never, ever been able to whip up gourmet deserts or mouth watering dinners..

Nevertheless I have decided it is my life's mission to decorate cakes for a living. Thus far I have only decorated 1 batch of cupcakes but have decided to take on the task of creating for my niece, who, today, turned 19.

It will be a simple cake, 3 layers with butter-cream icing and a little bit of fondant but I am still very eager and anxious about putting this cake together over the weekend. I've had visions of creating a cake for my daughters 1st Birthday in May so I'll be viewing this upcoming endeavor as a practice run.

I'm seriously hoping it won't be a complete disaster and will be udating this post after its finished so everyone can see my very first decorated cake ;)

Until then!

Has A Wonderful Weekend Ahead Of Me..

A UTI that last all of 5 minutes then developed into a Kidney Infection and now it seems as if I'm coming down with a cold of sorts. My throat is raw and is swelling rapidly..YUCK!

I'd just like to know who is actually in charge of The Karmic Disciplinary Committee cause I'm pretty sure that that someone has got it in for me this week. I've got quite a few things planned for this week that have to get done and then on top of it all I've been planning a Birthday Cake for my favorite Niece who is turning 19.

Why am I feeling like the next week days is going to suck ball?
