Once upon a time there lived an elderly little princess of a dog. A cross (we think) between a Chihuahua and Pomeranian and all of about 5 pounds, soaking wet. She lived a comfortable life, waiting for bits of scrambled eggs at breakfast and riding on her guardian's lap whenever it was time to go bye-bye. An idyllic life, to be sure. Suddenly, it all changed when the little princess found herself out on the streets of a rural area. Both she and her elderly Pekingese companion were victims of dump dog syndrome - something that happens when a dog is no longer wanted, taken to a rural area or city neighborhood, unceremoniously dumped and left to fend for themselves. Many of these dogs end up as bait dogs for dog fight rings, tortured and mistreated by evil people, hit by cars or euthanized in kill shelters. Thankfully, our elderly princess, by a strange turn of events, ended up in my house to be pampered and loved as she lives out her last days. Rosie, as she's known in this life, is an adorable little munchkin of a dog, tongue hanging out one side of her mouth (because there are no teeth to hold it in) and following me where ever I go.

While it's not too heavy for easy handling for me, it has enough heft that her royal highness can't push it around the floor.
