When I first found out I was pregnant with my first baby, our little Sophie Bean, I hoped and prayed for a little baby boy. Growing up with 7 brothers and only 4 sisters, I experience life more from a boys viewpoint and realized that even in my adult years I knew NOTHING about girls.
I can't braid, my fashion sense is non-existent and I can't match an outfit even if my life depended on it; it only made sense that I be blessed with a baby boy. Right?
Then came that chilling dose of reality-I was having a girl.
9 months of panic melted away into new mommy syndrome and I soon forgot all about my gender dilemma. The downside to this amazing transformation?
I developed a new syndrome, and I think we've all heard of it; in fact I know a great majority of human beings have experienced it: the I-Want-Syndrome.
I wanted it all; baby clothes, head bands, bows, shoes. I spent hours that should have been put to better use scouring the internet for everything girlie that I could find. Fortunately I've never had much money, otherwise I would have been bankrupt within the first 6 months of my daughters life.
Thankfully since then, Sophie is now approaching 2, my obsession has calmed down and I content myself with the occasional cute outfit...
